A Tempting Dessert Photo Essay

So right now I’m on a “wedding diet.” I say “diet” in parenthesis because it’s not a real only eat grapefruit or obsessively count calories type diet. I don’t believe in those. This more of a “Go to the gym a lot and try not to eat sugary and fried crap or drink any beer diet.” Which is easier I guess, but also really hard because I love beer.

I also really love dessert, and forsaken it is really hard. Last night I was going through some pictures on flickr and all of the ghosts of desserts past kept leaping out at me like long lost friends. So, since I can’t have any dessert, I thought I would let you guys share in the torture with some of my favorite sweet shots from around the world.

Parfaits in Nice, France
Best ice cream in the world, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hand blown sugar rooster, Chengdu, China

Home-made peach cake, Tuscany, Italy
Cupcakes, Seattle, Washington
Department store sweets, Tokyo, Japan
Hot Chocolate with Cheese, Bogota, Colombia
Cheese and honey, Marseille, France
Red bean ice cream in Chinatown, New York City
Tiramisu cups Rome, Italy
Street sweets, Xi’an, China
Berry pie with cream, Helsinki, Finland
Pistachio Cannoli, Rome, Italy

Now I REALLY need some chocolate…

What’s your favorite international dessert?

  1. Oh My My….you’ve covered a heck of a series of desert pictures in this article. Real smart and creative work I must say. This also reminds me of my lunch that I had a couple of times in a hotel called as “The Leela Kempinski” (Ambience Island, National Highway, Gurgaon, Delhi N.C.R. India.) HUGE LIST of Deserts were available to pick and eat as self serve! You wont believe I just had the main course half stomach and filled the rest of my appetite with deserts both the times 🙂

It also makes me feel that its been 6 months I have visited delhi and time again to head to Delhi 🙂

  2. Mmmm…love the food porn. The cheese & honey looks the best – so simple, but so classic.

Is it just me, or do you also start to notice the effect sugar has on your body & mood more and more as you grow older? When I was younger I used to be SUCH a slave to my sweet tooth, but now I find myself looking at all those delectable desserts in cafe vitrines and just feeling…a bit sick, exactly as I know all that sugar will make me feel after I eat it. Makes it easier to avoid and make slightly healthier (but still delicious) decisions like fruit or something 😉

Or maybe I’m just getting boring…
