Anyone who has traveled extensively knows that there are two types of travelers. There are the fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants guys, who like to just show up somewhere new and roll with whatever comes their way. My husband is one of those, he once flew across the Pacific to Beijing with no accommodation lined up whatsoever. Some might call that exhilarating and some might call that insane.
Then there are the second kind of travelers: the planners. For us, trip planning is half the fun. We know that the research and work we do ahead of time not only ups the anticipation factor, it makes your on the ground time so much more enjoyable.
You can guess who organizes most of our travel, can’t you?
I am obviously a planner, which is why I find the concept of this new website, Yonderbound so appealing. It’s a website where users can create trip specific planning folders, called Yonderboxes, that hold notes and hotel ideas for a specific trip. You can create your own or browse others depending on where you are going. It’s a great way to organize your accommodations and you can even read TripAdvisor reviews, see prices and book directly through the site.
To test it out I made a handful of my own Yonderboxes:
- Riviera Nayarit Road Trip– The stunning but underrated area of Mexico where I spent most of the past year.
- Hip Hotels in Washington DC– Everyone thinks DC is boring. Here I’ve listed some of the more energetic and interesting hotels the city has to offer.
- Affordable Hotels in Buenos Aires– Finding affordable accommodation that wasn’t awful was a huge problem when I was in Buenos Aires, so I made this list of decent cheaper hotels.
Planners know that where you stay is important. The location, ambience and comfort-level can totally change the way you experience and enjoy a city. Sometimes that means opting for a great hostel (which sadly, are not yet a part of the website), but sometimes it means finding the perfect affordable hotel situation. If you’re going to spend the extra money for that, you want to make a good choice. Yonderbound has hundreds of thousands of hotels in their databases, so you can thoroughly explore all your options.
